What is Reading Rookies?
Reading Rookies is a supportive learning program designed to help young readers strengthen their skills and build confidence. Whether a child is just beginning or needs extra support, our structured approach focuses on phonics, comprehension, and fluency in a way that feels approachable and encouraging.
We believe that confidence is just as important as skill. When students feel successful, they stay engaged, and that is where real progress happens.
Building Strong Reading Foundations
Our program focuses on the essential skills every child needs to become a confident reader. Through a structured, engaging approach, students develop the ability to hear, recognize, and work with letters and sounds while building the coordination and confidence needed for lasting success.
Phonemic Awareness (Auditory)
Children develop the ability to hear and work with sounds in words by practicing blending sounds together to form words and breaking words apart into their individual sounds.
Letter Knowledge
Children build familiarity and confidence with letters by learning to recognize both uppercase and lowercase forms, identify the letters in their own name, and understand the sounds each letter makes.
Phonics (Visual/Print)
Children learn the connection between letters and sounds, such as mapping the sound /d/ to the letter d.
Letter Formation
Using hands-on, multisensory techniques, children practice forming letters correctly while building strong visual memory, improving reading fluency, and developing motor planning and eye-hand coordination.
Make reading your child’s life long sport
Give your child the keys to reading success. This enrichment class uses fun, thematic, multi-sensory instruction, games, crafts, and stories to teach children in their last year of preschool how to build their letter and sound knowledge. Each weekly lesson focuses on 2-3 letters. The lessons will ignite your child’s reading interest, while improving your child’s ability to hear, identify and manipulate individual sounds. By the end of the session, your child will have the building blocks to become a successful reader. Because Reading Rookies is built around multi-sensory lessons, regardless of your child’s learning style, your child will thrive, have fun and learn!
